The power electronics are the proverbial control center of an electrified or battery electric vehicle. In addition to the familiar vehicle electrical system, it consists of up to 200 components, which can be divided into rectifiers, inverters and voltage converters. The power electronics supply the electric motor with alternating current and convert the high-voltage voltage of the battery into a low-voltage voltage for the vehicle electrical system. It also converts the alternating current into direct current to charge the battery and communicates with the vehicle's other control systems.
