With the new Multiroll CU LF Special, Zeller+Gmelin is expanding its Multiroll product group with an innovative high-performance lubricant for the wire industry. The new development is aimed specifically at manufacturers of continuous cast wire rod who attach particular importance to process stability, low maintenance and excellent surface quality.
The production of copper wire rod requires precisely coordinated processes – especially when lubricating and cooling the roll units. With Multiroll CU LF Special (art. no. 2650), Zeller+Gmelin is now launching a fully synthetic, water-miscible solution that precisely meets the specific requirements of this application.
“Our customers in the wire industry are under high quality and cost pressure. With Multiroll CU LF Special, we offer them a cooling lubricant that improves efficiency and product quality in equal measure – with minimal maintenance,” explains Dr. Dilahan Aydin-Cantürk, Product Manager at Zeller+Gmelin.
According to the manufacturer, the unique formulation ensures a stable, low-foaming emulsion with an exceptionally long service life. This not only reduces operating costs, but also enables longer production cycles with high process reliability – even at maximum rolling speeds.
Constant emulsion stability – even under high thermal load
Multiroll CU LF Special was specially developed for rolling processes at temperatures between 40 and 47 °C. In this range, the emulsion remains stable and retains its optimum cooling and lubricating properties over a long period of time.
A particular advantage is the high pH value stability (pH 8.3 at 3% solution), which allows long-term use without frequent correction. At the same time, the emulsion effectively protects the roll stand against corrosion and wear – even under permanently high loads.
Brilliant results – minimal residue
Another performance feature is the excellent surface quality of the wire produced. The drawing agent ensures a long-term bright, shiny wire surface that meets the highest visual and functional requirements. The amine-free formulation also reduces copper absorption and oxide content – which means less residue, less strain on the machine and no staining of the end product.
This material protection also has a positive effect on the service life of the rollers: Thanks to the high wear protection, service life can be significantly extended – another plus in terms of sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
Dr. Aydin-Cantürk comments: “The combination of these properties makes our new cooling lubricant particularly interesting for companies that depend on reliable, standardized copper wire production of consistently high quality.”
Proven Multiroll technology – reinterpreted
With the new addition to the Multiroll series, Zeller+Gmelin once again demonstrates how application experience and development expertise can be combined to create practical solutions for the metalworking industry. As an experienced manufacturer of industrial lubricants, the company is known for practical solutions that are developed in close coordination with the requirements of the respective industries.
“When developing Multiroll CU LF Special, we focused specifically on feedback from the field. The requirements for copper casting-rolling processes are complex – making it all the more important to have a lubricant that is reliable, economical and easy to handle. This is exactly what our new product does,” summarizes Dr. Aydin-Cantürk.
