Sustainable and universally applicable bio-hydraulic oil

Legislation provides for bio-hydraulic oils for use in biologically sensitive environments. However, these should be just as efficient as mineral oil-based products. With Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46, lubricant manufacturer Zeller+Gmelin now presents a fully synthetic, biodegradable multigrade hydraulic oil whose properties allow lubricant requirements to be significantly rationalized.

“Our development department is constantly working on continuously increasing the proportion of sustainable, resource-saving lubricants, especially for outdoor use,” says Andreas Krapf, Product Manager for Automotive and Special Automotive Products at Zeller+Gmelin. The development of Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46 now serves as the latest proof of work in the traditional company’s product portfolio. As an environmentally friendly biohydraulic oil, DivinolSynthoHyd Eco46 is suitable for year-round use in construction, agricultural and forestry machinery and can even be used in snow groomers due to its temperature resistance. “Whether on land or in the water – our new bio-hydraulic oil is designed for high temperature fluctuations and at the same time protects the environment thanks to the lowest possible oil input,” continues Andreas Krapf. Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46 can also be used in the field of stationary hydraulics and industrial systems – in injection molding machines, for example, the new product offers clear advantages for the user in terms of more energy-efficient, sustainable management (reduced friction – energy savings) and long-term stability of the product (fewer oil change intervals – longer service life).

The new biohydraulic oil has been awarded the EU Ecolabel (DE/027/268), the Austrian Ecolabel and the Swedish Ecolabel Swedish Standard SS 155434. The use of a high-quality zinc/ash-free additive combination also ensures excellent corrosion and wear protection as well as improved ageing behavior. Due to the synthetic base oil characteristics, no resinification or deposits occur due to thermal oil ageing, even at higher operating temperatures. The hydraulic oil is formulated on the basis of polyalphaolefins (PAO) and is completely biodegradable according to OECD 301 B.

Andreas Krapf concludes: “DivinolSynthoHyd Eco46 has excellent low- and high-temperature behavior and is ideal for extended oil change intervals. This means that our users not only protect the environment and conserve important resources, but in return they also get the performance they need in day-to-day use.”
